Zika Risk
While we were in the office for my ultrasound on June 3, we discussed the timeline for our frozen embryo transfer. Because the CDC currently classifies Jamaica as a "country with current or past Zika transmission but no current outbreaks" we have to wait 3 months from our return to transfer an embryo. The Zika virus can live longer in semen than in other bodily fluids, so we need to make sure we are healthy before becoming pregnant. We are disappointed to hear this, because it delays our plans by about 2 months. Obviously our baby's health is our primary concern, but it's frustrating that we have to wait since Jamaica's Zika risk is the same category as the risk in the United States. At least we know our approximate target transfer date and can count down the days until September 17!
