12 Weeks

Today marks 12 weeks pregnant!  This week was exciting because we had our 3rd ultrasound, our first appointment with Unity Point OB/GYN at West Lakes (my regular OB group), and we shared the news with Gavin and my co-workers.  

At 12 weeks, the baby is the size of a plum (2 inches long, and 0.5 ounces in weight).  Muffin can open and close his or her fingers and curl his or her toes.  At this point, the body's important systems and parts are mostly developed, so we are entering the "growth and maturation" stage.  The baby's job is now to grow, grow, grow!  

We haven't announced the pregnancy to our wider group of friends yet.  We're planning on doing a social media post around Thanksgiving day.  We had a poster printed that Gavin will hold and maybe we'll get a family photo.  That probably depends on a lot of factors!
