OB Appointment (21+5)

We had our anatomy scan last week, but my follow-up appointment with an OB was today.  I saw Dr. Gabel, who was working when we were admitted with Elsie.

The routine parts of the appointment went well.  I gained 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks and my blood pressure was good.  The baby's heart rate was in the upper 140s.

Even though my OB appointment was 8 days after our ultrasound, I was able to see the results of the scan in my health app.  I noticed that they mentioned two things I wanted to ask about: a "low-lying placenta" and "possible uterine synechia on the right lateral wall."  A quick google told me that this means there could be scar tissue on the uterine wall.

Obviously I asked about these things when Dr. Gabel came in.  She said a low-lying placenta is fairly common at this point and it often moves up on its own as the uterus grows.  My placenta is measuring 1.5 cm from the cervix and they would like it to be 2 cm or more.  Since it is so close, she said I should not stress about it.  However, to be cautious, she recommended pelvic rest until my next ultrasound at 24 weeks.  This means no intercourse, no tampons, and restricting my exercise to walking.

As for the scsr tissue, she said it is not a concern. It is not invading the baby's space so it just exists.  It can be caused by an abdominal surgery, or even just having a previous pregnancy.

Up next is the follow-up ultrasound at 24 weeks (November 30) and appointment with Dr. Bedia at 25 + 5 on December 8 (including glucose test).
