Good Omens
We are still in the beginning stages of the transfer process, but there have been many coincidental incidents. Each of these has given me reassurance that we have made a good decision.
When we met with Dr. Young, he commented that we were in his office exactly two years from the date our embryos were frozen. Our egg retrieval was April 10, 2019 and the embryos were frozen on Day 5 (April 15, 2019). We didn't realize that, but it was a fun coincidence.
While we are grateful for the opportunity to have some control of the timing of this (hopeful) pregnancy, it also felt like a lot of pressure to choose the best timing for our family. I had been praying for clarity around when to transfer our final embryo and having a 47-day cycle followed by a 15-day cycle seemed like an obvious sign. If my cycle had returned to normal, we wouldn't have been able to shoot for a March baby, which was one of our top options. So when that opportunity was presented, we took it.
Once we decided to start the process, other things have begun to fall into place. I needed to have a sonohysterogram done between Day 6 and Day 13 of my transfer cycle. It's hard to take time away from school in the last few weeks of the year, but I had already scheduled a personal day on Day 6 to attend Gavin's preschool graduation. So I was able to do that without having to consider my school schedule.
My fertility nurse, Karen, called the specialty pharmacy to order my estrogen patches and progesterone shots. The pharmacy called me to schedule delivery of these medications this week and the delivery date is Elsie's first birthday. I had wanted to give my boday a full year to recover from pregnancy and childbirth and it feels fortuitous that the meds for the next transfer will arrive on the one-year anniversary of Elsie's birth.
As we follow the med calendar and approach our transfer date, I'm feeling increasingly confident in our decision and excited for the possibility of adding one more sweet baby to our family.
