Final Biopsy Results
It took almost two weeks to hear the news, but we found out that our 3rd embryo is also normal! So we are elated to know that we have two viable embryos waiting for transfer.
We have been trying hard to stay positive througout this whole process, but that has been challenging at times. I also want to be realistic about the potential outcomes based on success rates. We know that the probability of live birth after one cycle is approximately 40% and the probability of live birth after two cycles is approximately 65%. Obviously we would rather have a 65% chance of success than a 40% chance of success! Having two available embryos gives us confidence that we will have a successful transfer without having to repeat the suppression, stimulation, and egg retrieval steps.
We could choose to move right to embryo transfer, but our plan is to transfer one good embryo after we get back from our trip to Jamaica (June 11-16!). In the meantime, we get to take a break from medications, injections, and appointments. The next steps are to take birth control pills and baby Aspirin for another 3 weeks, then begin progesterone shots, and finally transfer an embryo. So from now until June, we just pray thankfully for the embryos we have and hope for a successful transfer and positive pregnancy test over the summer.
