Echo Ultrasound

We had an echo ultrasound scheduled for exactly 4 weeks after our anatomy scan.  The purpose of this ultrasound was to look closely at the baby's heart and track growth from 20 weeks to 24 weeks to make sure Chocolate Chip is growing appropriately.  Since the last ultrasound showed a low-lying placenta and potential uterine adhesions, this was an opportunity to re-check those issues as well.

And it was good news all around!  The baby is measuring right on track for his or her gestational age (1 lb 12 oz, which is the 60th percentile) and his or her heart rate was 131 bpm.  The heart and blood flow between the chambers looked excellent.  My placenta has moved from 1.5 cm above the cervix to 3.5 cm above the cervix, so it is no longer a concern.  The scar tissue is only on one side of the uterus and Chocolate Chip's space is not hindered by it (we were able to see him or her moving all four limbs freely), so that is also not a concern.  And the baby is in a head-down position - for now.

So we left feeling great about how things are going.  Similar to our anatomy scan, I will be able to see the report from the ultrasound in my health app, but I will not see the doctor until the middle of next week to discuss the results.  I'll also do my glucose test at that appointment.

We got a couple of good profile photos to bring home and add to our collection.  Assuming there are no other concerns throughout the pregnancy, this may have been our final ultrasound!
