OB Appointment (29.5 Weeks)
Since I delayed my 12-week appointment a bit due to it falling right at the beginning of the school year, I have been a little bit "off" of the traditional 12, 16, 20, 24, and 28 week appointments. So I went today, at 29+6. Now that I'm in the third trimester, I'll go every 2 weeks until I reach 36 weeks, and then weekly after that.
Everything went well today. I gained 2.5 pounds since the last appointment (I'm officially up 17 pounds since the transfer), my blood pressure was plenty low (90/58) and I got my Tdap vaccine. This is one that you get every 10 years or with every pregnancy, due to the whooping cough component. So now I'll be good until 2032! We listened to the baby's heart beat, but the doctor didn't share the heart rate and I didn't even think to ask!
My only real question for the doctor today was whether we should consider an induction at 39 or 40 weeks. She said that I am tracking on the "small end of the normal range," so if I continue on this growth trajectory she would predict a 6.5 or 7 pound baby. For that reason, she said she would not worry about it at all and we can see how things are doing as we get closer to the due date. But that was all very reassuring to hear. And, as Allison put it, "my perineum thanks the baby for that!" 😂 (Only Allison would respond that way.)
Now that I'm on pace for appointments every 2 weeks, I'll go back two weeks from tomorrow. I've seen Dr. Gable several times throughout this pregnancy and I'll see her again next time. Maybe the doctor who delivers this baby will actually be a doctor I've seen in the office for once! And maybe not. Either way...
Only 10 weeks to go!
