Anatomy Scan (20 Weeks)
This afternoon Eric and I went to the Perinatal Center for our anatomy scan. It is standard procedure for my OB group to send IVF patients to the Perinatal Center for this ultrasound at 20 weeks and again for another ultrasound at 24 weeks. We got to see Chocolate Chip's profile, heart, limbs and the placenta. The ultrasound tech took a look "between the legs" to examine the reproductive organs, but we chose to look away during that time. She said the baby was oriented with his or her head up by my belly button and legs down in my pelvis. During the ultrasound the baby was bouncing on my bladder and moving a lot. She said we have a very active baby!
The ultrasound tech was very friendly and told us what she was looking at throughout the appointment. The doctor at the Perinatal Center will review the ultrasound photos and then send the results to my OB. We'll discuss them at my next appointment (Wednesday of next week).
Yesterday the baby's heart rate was 151 beats per minute, which is comparable to what it has been in the past. I looked back at Elsie's 20-week OB appointment and her heart rate was 150 beats per minute. I don't know what Gavin's was, so it's a little tricky to compare for gender speculation purposes. This baby is measuring 14 ounces and both Gavin and Elsie were measuring right at one pound. So very similar!
