7 Weeks

Today marks 7 weeks, and only 3 days until our first ultrasound at Mid Iowa.  We are so anxious to hear Muffin's heartbeat and see this baby on the monitor!  

This week Muffin is the size of a blueberry.  The baby is generating about 100 new brain cells each minute.  The heart is becoming more complex and the kidneys and arm and leg joints are forming.  Now that the umbilical cord is forming, Muffin will get his/her nutrients from me rather than the yolk sac.  Time to really focus on on eating well!

The most shocking fact I read about this week is that the uterus has already doubled in size.  Even though the baby measures only half an inch!  DOUBLED!

With our upcoming ultrasound appointment, Week 7 will likely be the best week yet!
