7 Weeks

This week went extra quickly for two reasons.  First of all, I kept thinking I was 5 weeks and would be 6 weeks as of Sunday.  However, I was already 6 weeks and counting.  Second, my due date moved up two days at our ultrasound yesterday, which means I will round the corner on each week on Fridays rather than Sundays.  So I went from thinking I was 5.5 weeks along to being 7 weeks along overnight!

This week the baby is the size of a blueberry (.5 inches in length).  The baby was measuring smaller than that at the first ultrasound, but there is plenty of time for him or her to catch up.  This week the brain and heart are becoming more complex and the kidneys and arm and leg joints are beginning to form.  The baby's hands and feet are still webbed and facial features are beginning to be defined.
