6 Weeks
I think I am 6 weeks today. This is assuming a due date of March 20, which will be confirmed at our ultrasound on Thursday.
This week Chocolate Chip is the size of a sweet pea (0.25 inches long). The embryo still has a small tail, but also has little limb buds that will become arms and legs. And a heart that has divided into four chambers and will begin to beat this week!
I'm feeling okay, but definitely experiencing fatigue and nausea in the evenings. I've also noticed an increase in lightheadedness when I stand up quickly. Sometimes a small bedtime snack helps with the nausea - I've been liking rice cakes with peanut butter and chocolate chips.
We shared the news with my parents yesterday. Allison and Haley already knew because our transfer date helped to dictate the date for Allison's baby shower (that Haley and I hosted). We went swimming at Des Moines Golf and were offered adult beverages. When I declined and asked for an ice water, we said that "we did a thing - and the thing worked." Both Mom and Dad seemed very surprised by the news. We thought they would be expecting this news in the near future, but apparently our timeline was a little quicker than they were anticipating! Overall, their reaction was positive and they are excited to be expecting two grandbabies within 6 months of each other.
We will get to see Chocolate Chip via ultrasound on Thursday and hopefully hear his/her heartbeat. Assuming everything goes well we will have another ultrasound two weeks later. For now, we continue everything we've been doing until September 5 (the 12 week mark).
