38 Weeks
At 38 weeks, the baby is the size of a winter melon (19.5 inches long and at least 6.8 pounds). According to my ultrasound on Wednesday, Muffin was estimated to weigh 7 pounds 14 ounces, give or take one pound.
Muffin is continuing to shed the vernix (waxy coating) that covered the skin. This week the vocal cords are developed, so the baby is ready to wail and cry. And he or she could have an inch of hair - we saw some hair in our ultrasound at 32 weeks!
I continue to feel more and more "stretched" and uncomfortable. Now it feels like there is constant pressure pushing out from my belly and it's hard to find a comfortable position - sitting, lying down, or moving around. I'm still doing a short workout each day to stay active, and have been trying to take Mia for more walks (just the two of us).
We are ready for Muffin to make his or her appearance anytime! The nursery is ready, the car seat base is installed, we have stocked the freezer, Gavin's suitcase is packed, and our hospital bags are packed and in our bedroom. The hospital even called me yesterday to finish my pre-registration paperwork and take payment for the hospital charges. Come on out whenever you're ready, Muffin!
