37 Weeks

Only three weeks to go and Chocolate Chip is the size of romaine lettuce or a canary melon - whatever that is.  The baby is approximately 19 inches in length and a bit over 6 pounds.  Our ultrasound estimated Chocolate Chip to be around 6 pounds 7 ounces.  

The baby is putting on more fat and weight, sucking his or her thumb to prepare for eating outside the womb, grasping small objects like his or her nose or toes.  Chocolate Chip is also inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, blinking, and turning from side to side.  He or she is also getting meconium ready for the first diaper change.

We are still waiting on our crib, but have the nursery ready to go otherwise.  This weekend Eric will install the car seat bases in each vehicle and make sure our hopsital bags have all the final items.  It seems crazy to think that we will be induced in two weeks - and even crazier to realize that we might not even make it to that point!  We will be meeting this baby very soon.
