35 Weeks

This week Muffin is the size of a pineapple (18-19 inches and 5-6 pounds).  The baby will not get much longer, but will continue gaining weight until birth.  Now Muffin's hearing is fully developed, he or she has moved into a head-down position (we know this is true from our last ultrasound), and the amount of amniotic fluid will slowly decrease as the uterus and baby take up all of the available space in my abdomen.

Since we have been quarantining, I have been able to work through our pre-baby checklist gradually.  Eric has done some of the big tasks like cleaning out the garage, installing the car seat bases in both cars, assembling the baby swing, and mounting a shelf for the baby monitor.  Our Amazon orders have been trickling in and I've been able to unbox, wash, and put things away as they arrive.  This week we washed/cleaned up all of the baby gear that we have been storing in the garage.  This included the activity mat, bouncer seat, bathtub, and some pack-n-play accessories.  Some of the decor for the nursery arrived this week, so we hung pictures.  And we added a cube organizer under the window that is big enough to store blankets, burp cloths, and books.

Gavin has enjoyed seeing the room come together and spent some time reading "Muffin's books," which are board books that we had boxed up to make room on his shelves for paperback books.  He hasn't expressed any jealousy over the things in Muffin's room, which I was prepared for.  Maybe this will change when the baby arrives?  For now, he excitedly talks about "the two nights I get to sleep at Nana and Papa's house when Muffin is born and you guys are at the hospital."

Eric and I also packed our hospital bags.  We both have second sets (or travel sets) of toiletries that are packed and ready to go.  I added a robe, two nursing nightgowns, comfy clothes to wear home, some breastfeeding supplies, and our coming-home outfits for Muffin to my bag.  Eric threw in some t-shirts and shorts, all of the charging cables we'll need, and a pillow.  We both also have some snacks since Eric isn't planning to leave at all.

Still on our to-do list is: repair the sliding glass door from the kitchen to the deck, finish making food to put in the freezer, hang the mobile above the crib, organize Muffin's closet, and wrap gifts for Gavin and Muffin.
