33 Weeks
This week the baby is the size of a butternut squash, or celery. That means he or she is approximately 17 inches long and weighing about 4.5 pounds. This week, the baby could grow a full inch, and will start gaining close to half a pound each week. Chocolate Chip is also keeping his or her eyes open while sleeping, is coordinating breathing with sucking and swallowing, and continuing to work on brain development. The baby's immune system is also fully developed now and antibodies are being passed across the placenta. Hopefully that means Chocolate Chip has some Covid immunity now!
The baby's dresser was delivered last weekend and Eric and Gavin got it all set up. I washed our newborn and 0-3 month clothes (the gender neutral garments), nursing pillow cover, boppy lounger pillow, and sheets, so we are starting to get some things ready. Eric brought home all of the baby items from our storage unit, so now we're really just waiting on the crib to have all of the basic necessities ready. Hopefully we get a call that the crib is in soon! Otherwise we'll have to consider Option B (either buy a cheap crib that can retire to Nana and Papa's house, or use the Pack N Play temporarily).
I have also started putting meals in the deep freeze for after the baby arrives. We have been planning 1-2 meals each weekend that we can double or freeze half of. So we should have a nice little stockpile of homemade meals when Chocolate Chip arrives.
We've also been working on narrowing our baby name list. It seems like we have a front runner for each gender, and then 2-3 options that are all tied for second place. Time will tell if our top choices seem to fit the baby at birth. As Eric reminds me, we will love this baby and his/her name once the baby is here and we've chosen what to call him/her.
