31 Weeks
This week the baby is the size of asparagus or a cocount. Asparagus seems longer, but a coconut seems like the right shape. Either way, Chocolate Chip is probably 16 inches long and a little over 3 pounds in weight. The baby is busy making more brain connections, is starting to sleep in longer stretches and experience REM sleep, and is picking up signals from all five sense. The baby is even pedaling his or her feet and sucking his or her thumb!
This is my last week in the seventh month of pregnancy. At 32 weeks, I'll be considered 8 months pregnant! This whole pregnancy has gone so quickly. It's hard to believe we'll have our baby here in 8 weeks (or less)!
My next appointment was scheduled for this coming Friday (exactly 32 weeks), but the doctor will be out of the office. So my appointment is rescheduled for the following Monday. That meant I had to shift the subsequent appointments back a week to follow the every-other-week pattern until 36 weeks. Luckily I was able to keep the 7:00 appointment slot for two of the three appointments.
Since we are approaching the eight month, I called Suite Dreams to check on the status of the nursery furniture we ordered in October. They had quoted us 4-12 weeks and we are at 11 weeks with no communication from them. The short version is that the dresser should be on the next shipment and we could have it in approximately two weeks. The crib hasn't arrived at the warehouse and will be at least four more weeks. There's a possibility we won't have it when the baby is born, so we'll have to decide whether to use the pack n play for a short bit or purchase a crib from Amazon. I'm super glad this isn't our first baby becuase it would make me very anxious to not have the nursery completely set up before the baby's arrival. This time around, it would be ideal to have the crib in place, but I know we can make do if we need to.
The phone call to Suite Dreams prompted me to make a list of all the tasks that need to be completed before Chocolate Chip's arrival. So now we have a list to work off of. First up: organize the basement office/guest bedroom so we have a place to take the extra items from the nursery. Then get furniture assembled so we have a place to put clothes, blankets, burp cloths, etc. The list also includes things like packing hospital bags, installing car seat bases, and purchasing the items from our Amazon registry.
With nine weeks until our due date, it's time to get moving!
