26 Weeks
This week the baby is the size of kale or an acorn squash - take your pick. Either way, Chocolate Chip is likely 14 inches long (already!) and about 2 pounds in weight. His or her eyelashes are growing in, as are teeny tiny fingernails. The baby is continuing to swallow amniotic fluid to practice swallowing and develop healthy lungs. He or she can hear noises and is starting to react to them (with movements). And this week the baby is starting to open his or her eyes! There probably aren't a lot of exciting things to look at in there, but it's a development milestone.
When I looked at my photos from last week and this week, I think that this week wins the award for the biggest change in one week. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but it's true! I can also see my belly physically move when the baby is moving. There have been more consistent and noticeable movements (kicking, rolling), which is good since I will start couting kicks at 28 weeks.
There are 7 school days until winter break, so we are focused on getting through these next 2 weeks and finishing up Christmas preparations. We have a little more baking and gift-wrapping to do!
