26 Weeks

Today Muffin is as big as kale.  He or she is probably 14 inches long and around 2 pounds.  Muffin is taking breaths of amniotic fluid to practice using his or her lungs.  The baby is also soaking up my antibodies to prepare its immune system for life outside the womb.  Muffin already has fingernails and eyelashes and will soon start to open his or her eyes.

This week I was invited to attend a conference in Florida with 14 other teachers from Urbandale Community School District.  We flew in on Wednesday, attended the conference on Thursday and Friday, and came home Saturday night.  We learned a lot and also had a lot of fun socializing and "networking."  This was Muffin's first plane ride!  Gavin and Eric had a great time while I was gone.  And Eric worked so hard to make my return as stress-free as possible.  He meal-planned for next week, ordered and picked up groceries, and did all the laundry.  What a great catch!  I appreciate him so much.

Next week will be a "normal" week of school.  It's hard to believe, but we only have 9 days of school before spring break!
