OB Appointment (25 Weeks)

Today I saw Dr. Beadia for a regular OB appointment.  This was the first time I'd seen a doctor since the ultrasound at 24 weeks, but everything looked normal and there wasn't much to talk about concerning the ultrasound results.

I gained 4 pounds in 4 weeks, am measuring on track, and my blood pressure was great.  So I got a glowing review from Dr. Bedia.  I learned that he had a colon resection (due to colon cancer) and he said, "Isn't it nice to be an easy patient when you haven't always been an easy patient?"

The glucose challenge happens between 24-28 weeks, so I did that this week.  I had to drink 8 ounces of a sugary drink and then have blood drawn one hour later to test blood sugar.  This guarantees that the placenta is working properly.  If the blood sugar result is too high, there is a 3-hour glucose test that confirms the problem and failing this test results in a gestational diabetes diagnosis.  The appropriate range is 70-135, and mine was 95.  So that's one thing we don't have to worry about.

My next appointment will be in 4 weeks and then I'll start going every 2 weeks!  This pregnancy has been going very quickly!
