23 Weeks
This week Chocolate Chip is the size of a grapefruit (11 inches and 1.2 pounds). The non-food comparison was a Furby, which is very strange to imagine. The baby's face is fully formed, just working on filling out. He or she can hear my voice and heartbeat, and even some outside noises like dogs barking. Chocolate Chip may also respond to stimili such as hot or cold beverages or food.
This week I have been feeling even more movement and Eric has felt a number of strong kicks. I can also feel Chocolate Chip rolling around, so it will be interesting to see what his or her position is when we have our ultrasound at 24 weeks (next Tuesday). At our anatomy scan, the baby was in the breech position, but babies can be in any position at that point and still turn head-down with plenty of time before delivery. I'm sure this baby has turned around several times and may continue to do so.
We have been shopping for a glider for the nursery and coming up against supply chain roadblocks. This weekend we identified a chair we are interested in (a La-Z-Boy rocker), but it is out of stock most places or can be ordered, but will likely arrive after the baby is born. So we need to make a couple more phone calls and then make our final decision about what to do in regards to the nursery chair.
This coming week we will celebrate Thanksgiving, so it is a short work week. I'm looking forward to spending more time with the kids this week. Gavin can't wait to decorate for Christmas! And we'll get to spend some time with family over the weekend. I have pulled out my maternity clothes and will likely start wearing them to school next week. This may be especially necessary after a week of eating constantly.
