18 Weeks

At 18 weeks, the baby is the size of an artichoke or a cucumber, depending who you ask (5.5 inches long and 6.5 ounces in weight).  The baby is yawning, hiccuping, sucking, swallowing, twisting, rolling, punching, and kicking.   The nervous system is continuing to develop, and he or she is now able to hear me from in utero!

I had an OB appointment earlier this week and my next appointment will be our anatomy scan at the Perinatal Center downtown.  I'll follow up with my OB in another 4 weeks, and an echo and growth ultrasound 4 weeks after the anatomy scan.  So in the next couple of months our appointment frequency will increase a bit.  And then I'll start visiting the OB every 2 weeks instead of every 4 weeks!
