16 Weeks
Time just keeps on ticking and the weeks keep on passing. We are now in week 16! This week Muffin is 4.5 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces (the size of an avocado). The baby is growing tiny bones in his or her ears and can hear my voice. He or she is also growing hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows. And forming taste buds!
Many people start to feel baby moving or "fluttering" at or around 16 weeks, so I'm hoping to feel this baby soon. I was also relieved to read that the chance of miscarriage drops to 1% after a healthy 16 week appointment (according to The Bump).
I have purchased my first maternity clothing item - new bras. The maternity bras I wore when I was pregnant with Gavin are too big, but the bras I have been wearing for the past two years are now too tight. So I went to Motherhood Maternity and am now the owner of two new maternity/nursing bras! It's pretty exciting...
In preparation for the next couple of weeks (and Christmas cookie consumption), I also bought some more leggings. My pants are feeling tight and a bit uncomfortable (especially for long periods of time), but maternity pants would be too big right now. So I'm planning to wear leggings as much as possible during my two-week winter break and I'll re-assess the situation the first week of January. Thank goodness for leggings, baggy sweaters, and maxi dresses!
