13 Weeks

Only one week left in the first trimester!  Eric's running out of time to do a first trimester HasFit workout with me!  (He did half of one, so that might have to count.)

This week the baby is the size of a lemon.  Approximately 2.9 inches long and 0.8 ounces.  His or her eyes are present, but the eyelids are fused shut.  Bones are beginning to form in the arms and legs.  And the vocal cords are beginning to develop.  This baby will need some strong vocal cords to keep up with Gavn and Elsie.

While I've had moments of nausea, I think this week I've felt better overall.  I'm definitely ready for bed at night, but that also comes with the beginning of the school year.  I have high hopes for more renewed energy and no inklings of nausea as we round the corner into the second trimester.

On Tuesday I have my first OB appointment.  They like to see patients for the first time betwee 8-12 weeks, but I couldn't get an ultrasound and doctor appointment back-to-back until this week.  Since I had been seen twice at Mid-Iowa, the nurse and I agreed that it was fine to wait until this week.  Eric will come with me and we will see Dr. Sayer (who delivered Gavin).  I have a few questions to ask her, but we are mostly just excited to see Chocolate Chip via ultrasound again.  After this appointment I anticipate only having ultrasounds at 20 and 28 weeks.
