12 Weeks
This is a ceremonious week because it marks the end of Progesterone in oil injections, oral Estrogen, and baby Aspirin. This week Chocolate Chip is the size of a plum (2 inches long and half an ounce). The baby's brain is developing, he or she can open and close his or her fingers, and reflexes are developing. The baby is developing white blood cells to fight infection, and his or her intestines are moving from the umbilical cord into the abdomen.
This week we announced the news to Gavin and our extended families. I shared the news with co-workers on Friday. And I'm planning to announce on social media on Monday (Labor Day). Letting people know about Chocolate Chip's anticipated arrival makes it seem even more real!
