10 Weeks
We've reached double digits! Today I am 10 weeks pregnant. The baby is the size of a strawberry (1.2 inches long and 0.14 ounces). His or her body length will almost double in the next three weeks. The baby is now considered a fetus rather than an embryo. Chocolate chip is forming cartilage and bones, and his or her arm joints are working. Fingernails and hair and tooth buds are starting to grow. And the baby is kicking and practicing swallowing.
This morning I was sitting in the Performing Arts Center at Urbandale High School for back-to-school PD and I swore I felt some flutters in my belly. I did not feel any flutters with Gavin or Elsie until the second trimester, so this would be incredibly early. But I know what those early flutters feel like and that's what I felt today! So I'll be paying attention to see if they continue or disappear for a few weeks.
